Quiet December Updates
Maiden paperback, early 2026 events, and more
The paperback of TMAHM is now up for preorder (Out September 1st in the US and September 3rd in the UK)! If you’ve been waiting to get Maiden at a more affordable price offered by a paperback, now’s the time! I have to give a shout that preorders are really important for authors—especially bipoc and queer authors. Publishers often use preorders to determine how much support they’ll give a book. If you’re so inclined, I’ve placed the preorder links for the pretty floppy paperback below~
(The paperback will include the glossary that’s on my website for easier referencing, too!)
Don’t wanna wait for the paperback? The Maiden and Her Monster is available to read now in hardback, e-book, and audiobook!
Upcoming 2026 events
Love Y’all Book Festival | Atlanta, GA | February 14-15
More events to come—just can’t share them quite yet :)
A look behind the scenes at what’s next
I’m about to start the second round of developmental edits for my early 2027 release, which I’m really excited about but can’t talk about quite yet. What I can say is that it’s another standalone sapphic fantasy with toxic bisexuals, folklore, and politics (because I am who I am). I’m pitching it as a sapphic gothic horror romance fantasy. I’ve had a lot of fun genre-blending! It’s also a retelling, but I can’t quite share of what yet. Hopefully in the next couple months. We’ve got an artist for the cover and I’m so excited to see what the art department and the artist put together.
Moodboard sneak peek:
While I wait for my edit notes, I’ve been working on a proposal for another adult fantasy. I know it may seem like a lot at once, but publishing works so far in advance that the proposal I’m putting together—if sold—would be published *earliest* 2028, or 2029. (I just shivered thinking about the late 2020s...) I’ve been brainrotting over this project for years, and it feels wild that it’s finally time to start slowly chipping away at it. I first got the idea for it before I even finished the first draft of TMAHM, so I’m excited that publishing it now feels like a real possibility. We’ll see!
That’s all from me this year. Going to spend the rest of the holiday with my family, curled up reading the excellent stack of books I’ve been sent to blurb, and diving back into edits. Have a good rest of the year and see you in 2026!
xx
Maddie
